Over years of working with medical centers and universities on their funding portfolios, I have observed certain practices common to those who are consistently successful. I will share my observations about strategies to strengthen grantsmanship for organizations seeking to increase their NIH funding portfolio. The talk is divided into three parts: Low-cost/low-effort strategies one can implement quickly to improve faculty grantsmanship; targeted spending that will foster culture change; and long-term institutional planning using agency insights.
